How would you make a child drink medicine?

A

 Mix with sweet substances to improve cooperation
 DO NOT add to formula or food
• Reason: they might start hating that food or formula and cannot eat it anymore
 May give carbonated drinks for nausea
 Last resort is to give ice pop or ice cure to help with oral medication

How do you give IM injections to a child?

A

 Max: 1-2 ml for ventrogluteal/ vastus lateralis @ 90 degree angle
 Max for deltoid: 0.5 ml, AVOID till 2 yrs old
 ***if more is need to be given, can be given in a separate syringe and given at a different location
