hazard profiles Flashcards
(3 cards)
what do hazard profiles do
-compare the physical characteristics which all hazards share and help decision makers know where to allocate most human and financial resources
characteristics of hazard profiles
-frequency = how often it happens
-magnitude = how extensive an rea the event could affect
-duration = how long it lasts
-speed of onset = how much warning time
-fatalities
-economic loss = values of assets damaged, lack of industry or economic productivity, insurance policies
-spatial predictability = predictability of where would be affected
effectiveness?
-can it be applied to every hazard (some are more complicated and need more complex model)
-does it take any aspect of hazards into account e.g. level of dev
-timeframe? do they accurately lay out time taken for full response and how it changes du eot aspects of hazards e.g. intensity
-does it presesnt hazards currently e.g. hazards effected by climate change or models may not represent human response time
