Why was the PoG called a pilgrimage

A

to show their religious slant, don’t want to be perceived at rebels, wanted to maintain high standards

fall of PoG

A

Duke of Norfolk but was heavily outnumbered so persuaded them to disband while a few would be escorted to London. Henry delayed responding so they’d lose men. Agreed if they disbanded along would receive demands. May 1537 15 main leaders found guilty of treason and executed

A

led by Duke of Norfolk and Howard family. embraced break with Rome but wished to limit extent of change and maintain many traditional Catholic beliefs. Success is shown in passing of Act of 6, downfall of Cromwell, and marriage of Catherine Howard.
Failures- Catherine’s infidelity damaged court influence

Reformist faction

A

Accusations against Archbishop Cranmer of Protestant heresy were rejected by Henry and he put Cranmer himself in charge of the investigation. Marriage to Catherine Parr July 1543 added further power as she was a Protestant sympathiser and responsible for education of Ed and Liz
Henry stood by her after accusations of heresy against members of Parr family
