Q

how does phagocytosis occur

A

antigens on the CSM of the pathogen will be complementary tot he antigen of the phagocyte. the phagocyte will engulf the pathogen via endocytosis. once the pathogen is in the phagocyte a phagocytic vacuole will form around the patjogen. lysosomes will fuse to the vacuole. the lysosomes will secrete lysozymes to hydrolyse and destroy the pathogen. the antigens of the pathogen will then be presented on the csm via exocytosis so that memory cells to this specific antigen can be created and the clonal selection period if ever becomes reinfected is shorter.
