Factor analysis
A statistical procedure that identifies clusters of related items on a test, used to measure different dimensions of performance
General Intelligence
Underlies specific mental abilities & is therefore measured by ever task on an intelligence test
Savant Syndrome
A condition in which a person otherwise limited in mental ability has an exceptional specific skill, such as in computation or drawing
Stanford-Binet
The widely used american revision of Binet’s original intelligence test
Intelligence Quotient
Ratio of mental age and chronological age
Achievement Test
A test that determines how much a person has learned
Aptitude Test
A test designed to predict a person’s future performance, the capacity to learn
Wechsler Adult Intelligence Test
The WAIS is the most widely used intelligence test, has both verbal & nonverbal subtests
Reliability
The extent to which a test yields consistent results, as assessed by the consistency of scores
Vadilaty
The extent to which a test measures or predicts what is supposed to
Content Vadility
The extent to which a test samples the behavior that is if interest
Predictive Vadilaty
The success w/ which a test predicts the behavior it is designed to predict
Cohort
A group of ppl from a given time period
