What was the aim of Baddely & Hitch (1977) Forgetting amongst Rugby union players ?
To investigate the interference effect on the memory of rugby players over the length of a full season
Procedure of Baddely & Hitch (1977) Forgetting amongst Rugby union players
Participants were asked to recall all the games they had played throughout the season and names of opposing squad members. Baddely and hitch developed 2 theories- memories fade naturally over time or memories interfere with one another (pro or retro) so those who played less games would suffer less interference and those who played more would suffer more interference.
How was Baddely & Hitch’s study ecologically valid
Games were naturally occurring, participants were in their natural environment. This excludes demand characteristics.
