Explain the Peterson&Peterson (1959) study ?

Aim- Investigate STM recall depending on duration of time.

Procedure- presented people with three letters and made count up in intervals of 3 (3,6,9etc) and see if people recall the letters each time

Findings-The longer someone had to count the less likely they are to remember the letters. After 18 seconds only 10% could recall.
