Q

What does Coulomb’s law state that describes intramolecular forces? (2)

A

1) The charges in an atom or molecular attract if they are different. Attraction is greater with higher charges
2) Charges on an atom push apart if they are the same

Q

Why do electrons stay a certain distance away from the nucleus?

A

Otherwise, protons and electrons would crash into each other because of the attraction of their charges (Coulomb’s law)
