Sigma factor provides the specificity as to where RNA POL binds

how can you control the level of gene expression through sigma's...?

there are diff sigma's that will bind RNA pol to diff promoters, meaning RNA pol has specificity to diff promoters

there for if you can control which sigma is being produced then you can control diff groups of promoters by expressing a particular sigma at a particular time
