Q

Contact adhesive

A

Description
- Used to stick surfaces that touch once; bonds quickly when both sides are coated and pressed together (e.g., laminates).

Material
- veneers, plastic laminates

Advantages
- takes place as soon as two surfaces are pressed togeather
- no clamping required
- multi material

Disasvantages
- No oppotunity to reposition peices
- relatively expensive

Health and saftey
- fumes are very dangerous, good ventalation is required.

A

Description
- A strong, two-part adhesive (resin + hardener) used for bonding different materials like metal, wood, or plastic.

Material
- all

Advantages
- High strength bonds
- Excellent heat and chemical resistance.

Disasvantages
- Expensive
- Reache full strength after few days
- can be messy

A

Description
- Solid glue sticks melted in a glue gun; bonds quickly as it cools and hardens (used for craft and model work).

Material
- any materials for model making

Advantages
- Quick to harden
- Range of colours
- good bond for models
