Why did everything have to be done in one anesthetic episode? how was this accomplished?

logistics of getting the team to the jaguar (in mexico) and impressions and csting would have required 2 trips.
It was accomplished by having a pre-fabricated crown with a apost, and using dentin pins for additional retention

Why was it crucial to restore this tooth rather than extracting it?

Was going to be released into the wild.
Jaguars hunt by killing prey by crushing their skull, and need all canines to accomplish this.
