A

sounding of tocsin released Frenzy of killing 1000-1500 prisoners in Parisian gaols. originally refectory priests, spread to political, ordinary, monks nuns and women and children
=encouraged by commune, Marat l ami du people, traitors should be put to the sword
- coincided with elections, no girondahns elected just radicals…

A

10 august- 20000 SC’s, 2000 federes,,, many national guard defected and, tuilerries set on fire, 1000 sc killed, Swiss battalion and gentlemen at arms all massacred.
- king removed to temple prison, removed distinction of active and passive citizens

Danton made minister of justice, any of kings suspensory vetos would come into force, tribunal court set up, refectory priests given 2 weeks to leave or face deportation

3 Dec- decision to trial Louis, convention would be judge and jury
4 Dec- robespierre ‘Louis must die so the country can live’
11 dec- questioned Louis conduct at estates general and contact with Austria
26 Dec- Louis defence, could not commit treason as king
27 Dec- ginrodnans wanted to appeal to people, rejected
