Lecture 12 Flashcards
(4 cards)
1
Q
Cerebellum
A
Deeply folded lobes with folia. Contain highest density of neurons in CNS. Unlike cerebral cortex, cerebellum cortex has 3 layers where white matter is deep to these including:
- Molecular: synaptic, pink outer layer
- granular matter: synaptic, dark purple
- Purkinje neurons: single row between molecular and granular layer,
2
Q
Granular layer neurons
A
send their axons into the molecular layer then the bifurcate to form parallel fibres. Synapse with Purkinje neurons.
3
Q
Purkinje neurons
A
Has soma and dendrites in molecular layer while axons travel to white matter via granular layer or down into deeper cerebellar nuclei where it synapses.
4
Q
Ependymal cells
A
Epithelial-like cells that line cerebral ventricles
