Q

What are Looping Thoughts?

A

Your thoughts control your feelings, your feelings control your actions, your actions control your events and then the events go right back and justify the thoughts and feelings. This pattern (thoughts-feelings-actions-thoughts) makes up the repetitive pattern of Looping Thoughts.

Q

What rule of the mind (1 out of 3) helps understand the toxicity of Looping Thoughts?

A

Every thought you think and word you say forms a blueprint that your mind, body and psyche work to make real. The more the client repeats the looping thought, the more it becomes hardwired in their thinking which is why they believe the looping thoughts are a part of them and can’t be changed.

Q

What rule of the mind (2 out of 3) helps understand the toxicity of Looping Thoughts?

A

Your mind loves the familiar and hates the unfamiliar. When the client has repeated the looping thoughts many many times, it has become familiar and their mind finds it much easier to retain the looping thought than to cast it away. That’s why, through RTT, you need to interrupt their thinking patterns.

Q

What rule of the mind (3 out of 3) helps understand the toxicity of Looping Thoughts?

A

Emotion always defeats logic. The client’s emotions overrule their ability to think themselves out of the looping pattern.

Q

Example of negative looping thought using “I’m not enough”

A

I’m not enough (thought) –> Sad, resentful, fearful etc. (feeling) –> Inaction due to fears (fear of rejection etc.) (action) –> justifying the inaction bc I’m not enough and would be rejected (thought).
