What is RTT? Flashcards
(11 cards)
What is the ‘iceberg method’?
It is used to describe the relationship between the conscious and unconscious mind.
The part of the iceberg visible above the water line represents the conscious mind, which contains all thoughts, feelings and memories easily accessible.
The part of the iceberg below the water line represents a relaxed conscious state (light trance) and further below the unconscious mind (deeper trance).
Think of the mind as two different dimensions; the conscious mind (the thinking mind where you analyze everything, make decisions etc.) and subconscious mind (your autopilot that regulates your breathing, your blinking etc. and basically keeps you alive).
What is RTT?
RTT® draws on the principles of hypnotherapy, psychotherapy, neurolinguistic programming, cognitive behavioral therapy, neuroscience, and neuroplasticity (when you think a thought, you are changing your neural pathways, firing better neurons) to deliver fast, effective, long-lasting results.
In short, RTT therapists help clients uncover the meaning and interpretation of events in the client’s life that have created limiting beliefs, and then change these beliefs by replacing them with new, positive and empowering beliefs. This leads to permanent, powerful results.
How would you describe RTT to others?
RTT is a form of hypnotherapy, where we RTT therapists use hypnosis to access the client’s subconscious mind and from there find the root cause of the clients problems/fears/limiting beliefs and then change/reframe those limiting beliefs. After the session the client is given a recording to listen to for 21 days to fully lock in the transformation.
How would you describe hypnosis to others?
Hypnosis is a method used to enable/allow communication between the conscious and subconscious mind. Almost all fears, limiting beliefs etc. are subconscious (formed through childhood experiences) so it is vital to access the subconscious mind through hypnosis to get to the root cause of a specific problem using RTT/therapy tools.
In other words, hypnosis gives you freedom and empowerment, and through the proper guidance can ‘wake you up to your full potential’.
Quotes to remember about hypnosis/hypnotherapy
“Hypnosis is an altered state of awareness in which the individual withdraws their awareness of/from the outside world, accesses their subconscious mind and only focuses on one important goal; in hypnotherapy to access the root cause of their issues.”
“…a way for the client to move through time and space and revisit scenes from their past. By revisiting these scenes with the assistance of a hypnotherapist, the client is able to reevaluate what they experienced growing up and reassess the way they interpreted those events as a child.”
What is the greatest fear we human beings have?
Fear of being rejected. Our fears are primal, ancestorial fears, wired in primitive times, hardwired into our brains. We cannot change this so we have to learn how to work with it instead of fighting it.
Back in the day, people literally died of rejection (couldn’t survive on their own in primitive times), but the subconscious mind still believes this.
The problem is that society has developed much much faster than our brains and according to neuroscientists, including Dr. James R. Doty, our brains cannot develop at the same speed (even through generations).
Why is it easier to change your beliefs during hypnosis?
What are the five brain wave states?
Gamma (elevated focus), beta (conscious mind, ordinary waking state of awareness), alpha (access the subconscious mind at this level and below through relaxation, hypnosis, meditation), theta (REM sleep, also accessed through deep relaxation, hypnosis and meditation), delta (deep sleep)
What is ‘suggestion therapy’?
Suggestion therapy is where suggestions tailored to the client are used repeatedly to direct their subconscious mind towards their desired outcome and goals.
Through suggestion therapy, new ideas and beliefs can be installed into the client’s mind so that they no longer need to rely on willpower to overcome a particular problem or challenge in their life.
In its most basic form, hypnotherapy is a combination of hypnosis and suggestion therapy.
The purpose of using hypnosis is to help the client bypass their conscious mind and become open and receptive to suggestions.
How does RTT differentiate from ordinary hypnotherapy?
RTT is divided into 4 phases; i) Induction, ii) Interventions, iii) Reframe and iv) Transformation (recording).
The intervention and reframe phases are what differentiate RTT from ordinary hypnotherapy, which usually only consists of hypnosis + suggestions therapy and possibly a recording. It’s in these phases the real work is done, where clients gain a better understanding of why they believe what they believe and how it influences behavior and our decisions (detection work + intervention techniques, such as RFPI, Left Hand Right Hand and It’s not me). THIS is why RTT is more powerful than ordinary hypnotherapy.
