How can you monitor mood/response to treatment?

-Beck depression inventory (BDI-II)
-Geriatric depression scale (GDS)
-Patient health questionnaire (PHQ)

Provide a combination of antidepressant medication and a high-intensoty psychological intervention (CBT or IPT)

How do antidepressants work?

-block re-uptake of monoamine neurotransmitters (5-HT, NA, DA)
-prevent breakdown of monoamine neurotransmitters
-as a result there is increased neurotransmitter availibility
