Instruments Flashcards
(11 cards)
Pitot-static system and altimeter must be tested how often?
every 24 calendar months if the airplane is flown under IFR
white arc on the airspeed indicator?
Vs0 - Vfe
Green arc on the airspeed indicator
Vs1-Vno
Yellow arc on the airspeed indicator
Vno-Vne
Allowed variance of altimeter from field elevation?
75 ft
Three forms of magnetic compass error:
-magnetic variation: variation of earths magnetic field
-magnetic deviation: variation of compass readings due to magnetic fields in the aircraft
-magnetic dip
lines of equal magnetic variation:
isogonic lines
to correct from true course to magnetic course
-add westerly variation
-subtract easterly variation
(west is best and east is least)
magnetic compass dip errors in acceleration:
ANDS:
-accelerating indicates more northerly heading
-decelerating indicates more southerly heading
two forms of magnetic dip error:
-acceleration error
-turning error
magnetic compass dip errors in turning:
-turning from a northerly heading, compass initially undershoots the turn
-turning from a southerly heading, compass initially overshoots the turn
-COSUN: compass overshoots south and undershoots north
To a northerly heading: roll out about 30 degrees before your new heading.
To a southerly heading: roll out about 30 degrees after your new heading.
