3
Q

Limitations of experiments

A

End point could be subjective = inaccurate measurements of time taken etc
Water bath not thermostatically controlled = decreased overtime
Not enough intermediate values taken to find optimum etc
Range of values not wide enough

8
Q

How to reduce uncertainty of measurements

A

Increase resolution of an instrument eg reads to millimetres not just micrometres (has smaller scale divisions)
Take multiple readings eg measure total length of multiple objects as opposed to individually
Repeat measurements

9
Q

Reading vs measurement

A

Values derived from a single judgement eg temperature of a thermometer = reading
Values taken as the difference between 2 judgements so recorded to be the distance = measurement

15
Q

Why does taking multiple instances of measurements reduce uncertainty?

A

Instead of the uncertainty being total uncertainty of all measurements
It is the uncertainty of 1 measurement divided by number of objects

16
Q

Why does it work to take multiple instances of measurements to reduce uncertainty?

A

Because the percentage uncertainty of multiple measurements of objects at once = percentage uncertainty of one measurement of a singular object

17
Q

Uncertainty of repeated measurements mean

A

Half of the range of values

18
Q

Percentage uncertainty

A

Uncertainty/value x 100

19
Q

Percentage uncertainty in a repeated measurement

A

Uncertainty/mean value x100

20
Q

uncertainty if values are added together/ found difference between them

A

The uncertainties are added together

21
Q

Percentage uncertainty if values are multiplied together

A

Percentage uncertainties are added together

22
Q

Percentage uncertainty if values are divided

A

Percentage uncertainties are added together

23
Q

Describe the graph

A

State differences in mean
State peaks/plateu/rate of reaction

24
Q

Use the graph to explain

A

Describe the graph then explain what happens using own knowledge

25
Conclude using data in the graph
USE STANDARD DEVIATION --> no overlap shows significant difference
