What is maent by migration/
It is a person who goes to live in another place.
What is meant by internal migration?
It is the movement of people from one place to another within a country.
What is meant by international migration?
It is the movement of people between countries.
What is an Emigrant?
They are people who leave a country.
What is an Immigrant?
They are people who eneter a country.
What is a refugee?
they are people who have been forced to leave their home country for fear of persecuation.
What is meant by voluntary migration?
It is the free movement of migrants looking for an improved quality of life or personal freedom.
What is maent by forced migartion?
It is when the migrant has no persoanl choice but has to move due to natural disaster or to economic or social imposition.
What is meant by rural to urban migration?
It is when people move from the country side to a settlement.
What is meant by a push factor?
It is a factor in a migrants old place of residence which caused them to move.
What is meant by a pull factor?
It is a factor in the migrants new place of residence which caused them to move.

The main reasons are persecuation for reaons of race, erligion, politics, internal strife (civil war) or due to natural disasters such as drought or flooding.

Explain why people would migrate from an area experiencing drought.
It could be because there is very little water so they cannot grow any food to feed their family. This leads to people becoming malnutrished and want to move to another area.
Name two areas that have experienced a drought.
The areas are the horn of Africa (Ethiopia) or the South Eastern Australia.
Give four reasons a migrant might experience difficulties when they move to a new destination.
The problems could be lack of qualification or skills making it difficult to find a job, they cannot speak the language, cannot afford health care or education, or cannot afford to buy a house so end up living in a shanty town.
Give four reasons why people might move from a town or city in an MEDC to a village in the countryside.
The levels of crime, air pollution and noise pollution might be lower in the countryside than a large urban area. They might have gained a promotion at work so they can now afford to buy a house in the countryside and afford to commute to work.
Is a low paid jobs either a push or pull factor.

Which example would you use to answer a casestudy question on international migration.
You would use Poland to England.
List three factors that might stop a person migrating from an African country to England.
They could be a lack of money to buy a ticket to travel to this country, they do not speak english, they cannot obtain a visa to enter the country.
