Movement Control
The guiding rules to ensure efficient and economic use of Tpt resources are as follows: [FER – C] 4
- Full use of capacity
- Even flow and flexibility
- Regulation of movement
- Centralized control
Types of Movement [TOSA] 4
- Tac moves. Planned and controlled by the General staff of the fmn carrying out the moves.
- Operational moves. Ordered by the General staff but planned and controlled by the Administrative staff.
- Strategic moves. Ordered by Army HQs (Mil Ops). They are planned and controlled by Army HQs, Quartermaster General’s Branch (Movement Control Directorate).
- Administrative moves.
(a) Ordered by Army HQ (Staff Duties).
(b) They are planned and controlled by Army HQs, QMG’s Branch.
(c) However, ‘Trg Movements’ are ordered by Army HQs (Mil Trg) but are planned and controlled as Administrative moves.
Rd Move Calculations
In all rds move calculations following factors are involved. [DST – ND] 5
- Distance to be covered.
- Time to complete the move.
- Speed at which the move is to take place.
- No of vehicles involved.
- Density of vehicles, to be adopted
Factors of Administrative Staff Check [R-PAR] 4
- Rqmts.
- Priorities.
- Availabilities.
- Restrictions.
Basic Considerations of Amn Supply [AANI] 4
- Amn must be passed systematically and automatically from Rear to Front.
- All expenditure of amn must be replenished immediately.
- No amn lorry should be diverted from its legitimate function of amn supply.
- In an emergency, any fmn or unit is authorized to draw amn on demand from any echelon which carries the type of amn required.
Measures to overcome supply in remote area [RALS - SSP] 7
- Ration stock for 2 X months
- Alt route for supply
- Local purchase of ration
- Self-contained
- Supply by heli-drop
- Survival for fitness
- Production of ration by NA itself rqr locally
Problems faced by user in using eqpt to its full-service life [CLS – Non Trg Repair] 6
- Chance failure
- Lack of knowledge and ability of supervision
- Storage space and facilities
- Non-avail of spare eqpt and auth publication
- Trg of personnel
- Repair/servicing schedule
Measures to extend service life of eqpt
- Maintainers.
(a) Trg. Although a recruit may be qualified in his trade, but On-the Job Trg under experienced mechanics will only provide him requisite experience and confidence to repair eqpt.
(b) Use of Latest Tech. Latest tech, such as computers and electronic test eqpt must be used for fault diagnosis which will reduce repair time and improve quality of repairs.
(c) Models. Necessary models, if carried out in time, will help in extending service life. - Users. Serviceability of eqpt is mainly in user hands. If eqpt is maintained and used according to laid down schedules, then chances of eqpt getting off rd will be reduced.
(a) Trg. Whatever may be type of eqpt, if not handled properly, it is likely to get off rd. Stress on Trg and proper handling of eqpt must increase.
(b) Supervision. At present maint of eqpt is left to lowest level, and at times only for document purposes
