A

•A maneuver conducted when an approach cannot be completed to landing.
•The route and altitude are shown on approach charts.
•Also, is a term used by the pilot to inform ATC that the missed procedure is being executed.

A

A point prescribed in each instrument approach procedure at which a missed approach procedure shall be executed if the required visual reference does not exist.

A

•The procedure to be followed if the approach cannot be continued
•You must comply with the missed approach procedure, unless ATC issues other instructions

A

•Upon arrival at VDP/MAP and visual reference is not sufficient.
•When pilot determines a safe landing is not possible
•Instructed to do so by ATC

How to go missed

A

•Climb gradient of 200’ nm is required unless otherwise depicted
•Next, advise ATC that a missed approach will be made and why.
•Then, comply with instructions
•If missed prior to MAP, fly IAP at or above MDA or DH before any turns are made.
•Radar vectors cancel any previous missed instructions.
•If missed from a radar approach, fly instructions and vectors given by ATC
•Following missed, request further clearance to:
•Another approach
•Holding
•Alternate, etc.

Missed precision approach

A

•After you arrive at DA and decide to go missed-
•You must go missed Climb immediately
•Turns (if published)

A

•After you arrive to MDA/VDP and decide to go missed
•You must stop descent. Remain at or above MDA
•No turns until you reach your MAP

Off course missed approach

A

•Make the decision to go Missed Approach
•Stop descending
•You may begin a climb to the altitude prescribed in the procedures
•Fly back towards the inbound course
•Advise ATC that you are missed approach
•Continue until you reach the Missed Approach Point
•Then execute the Missed Approach Instructions

A

•Decide to go Missed Approach
•Remember the missed approach procedures to be used are the ones from the approach you just flew
•Climbing turn towards the landing runway
•Continue the turn until established on the missed approach course

•Continue inbound to MAP
•Execute missed as published or as directed by ATC
•Pilot may climb immediately to altitude specified in missed procedure
