MISSED ENDO Flashcards
(16 cards)
cortisol is a ___corticoid
glucocorticoid
cushing syndrome/disease comes from what part of cortex
Zona fasciculata
primary hyperaldosteronism comes from what part of cortex
Zona glomerulosa
aldosterone is a ___corticoid
mineralcorticoid
chromaffin cells are responsible for ___ and are located in ___
responsible for catecholamines, and the medulla.
Seen in pheo and neuroblastoma
presents with symptoms of hyperthyroidsm such as heat intolerance, weight loss, increased appetite, diarrhea, chest pain, and palpitations. Commonly occurs after a viral upper resp illness. Painful thyroid
subacute granulomatous thyroiditis AKA de quervain thyroiditis
single, hot nodule.
toxic adenoma
multiple hot nodules with suppressed surrounding tissue
toxic multinodular goiter
functional thyroid h9ormone secreted from ovarian tumor
struma ovarii
what med can cause hyperthryoidism
amiodorone
Another easy way that I remember 11, 17, and 21 is to turn all of the 1’s into an upward arrow. The non-1 numbers will be downward. The first number is the mineralocorticoids/BP and the second number is the sex hormones. Potassium will be opposite the BP. So for example in 21def, Mineralocorticoids and BP will be down, sex hormones up, potassium up
17 alpha hydroxylase deficiency. what will mineralcorticoids/bp, sodium, potassium, sex hormones be?
increased mineral/bp + sodium, decreased potassium, decreased sex hormones
virilization in females, salt wasting
21 hydroxylase deficiency
patients who are status post total thyroidectomy need to be observed for ____ because _____
observed for hypocalcemia; due to removal of parathyroid glands
functional pit adenoma secretes?
TSH causing secondary hyperthyroidism by stimulating T3 and T4..
this then suppresses TRH via neg feedback ..
Would see increased TSH, T3, T4, and suppressed TRH
