Q

What is the epididymis?

A

Tightly coiled tubular located superoposterior surface of each testis, sperm transmitted from testesto epididymis for storage and final maturation.

*A tube that connects a testicle to a vas deferens in the male reproductive system

17
Q

What is the Vas deferens?

A

Continuation of epididymis, when joins seminal vesicle, forms ejaculatory duct.

18
Q

What is the seminal vesicle?

A

Accessory gland, lateral to vas deferens, posterior inferior surface of bladder, produce fructose and coagulating enzyme for seminal fluid which mixes with sperm before ejaculation.

19
Q

What is the prostate gland?

A

Largest accessory gland of the male reporoductive system, secretes thin fluid that forms portion of the seminal fluid, located inferior to the bladder, surrounds prostatic urethra.

20
Q

What is the bulbourethral gland?

A
  • Also known as Cowper’s gland
  • 2 small glands lie posterolateral to membranous urethra, secrete alkaline fluid that also forms portion of seminal fluid
21
Q

Describe the penis

A

External reporductive organ attached to pubic arch via suspensatory ligaments

22
Q

The female uterus is ____ shaped muscular organ located in the ______ portion of the pelvic cavity located betwee the ______ and the _______.

A

pear; anterior; bladder and rectum

23
Q

The body of the uterus is in the _____________.

A

upper two thirds

24
Q

Where do the uterine tubes attach?

25
Where is the cornua of the uterus?
Lateral borders of the fundus where uterine tubes attach
26
Characteristics of the cervix?
* conduit * Communicates superiorly with uterine cavity via internal os and inferiorly with vagina via external os
27
What is the outer layer of the uterus called? What type of membrane?
* Perimetrium * Serous membrane
28
What is the middle layer of the uterus called? Characteristics?
* Myometrum * Thickest muscular portion * highly vascular * responsible for contractive force during child birth
29
What is the inner layer of the uterus called? Type of membrane?
* Endometrium * Mucous membrane * Contigous with vagina
30
Where are the round ligaments of the uterus?
Extend laterally from uterine cornu
31
What are the uterosacral ligaments of the uterus?
Extend from lateral walls of cervix to anterior surface of sacrum
32
What are lateral ligaments of the uterus?
Extend like a fan from lateral walls of cervix and vagina to anchor into wall of pelvis
