Movement Analysis Flashcards
(19 cards)
What is a lever
The bone and shown as a straight line
What is the fulcrum
It is a pivot or a joint and is shown as a triangle below the line
What is the effort
Is a force provided by muscle and is shown ok by an arrow at the top of the line
when these things are in the middle F L E
FLE = 123
What is the load
The weight of the body that is being moved and is shown as a square
First class lever system
The fulcrum is between the loaf and effort with the effort arrow going down
Example of first class lever
Attacking Header a football, shooting a football, throw in in football, straightening the elbow in triceps dips
Second class lever system
Load is in the middle of effort and fulcrum with effort arrow going up
Third class lever system
When the effort is in the middle of load and fulcrum with effort arrow going up
Example of second class lever
Calf raises and jumping at the ankle
Third class lever system examine
Bicep curl and shooting a football
What are the two main functions of levers
To move a load faster and further than is possible without a lever
To move a heavier load that can be moved without a lever
Mechanical advantage of 2nd class lever
Provides force to lift heavy loads - biggest mechanical advantage
Disadvantage of 2nd class lever
Small range of movement and cannot move load quickly
Advantage of 3rd class lever
Provides speed and wide range of movement
Disadvantage for 3rd class lever
Greater force required than the load to be moved - mechanical disadvantage
Link the planes and axis
Sagittal plane and frontal axis
Frontal plane and sagittal axis
Transverse plane and vertical axis
Example of movement possible in sagittal plane and frontal axis
Somersault and bicep curl
Example of movement in transverse place and vertical axis
Full twist in trampolining
