Q

Describe the order of recruitment of muscle fibres during exercise of increasing intensity

A

-We use the least amount of muscle fibres needed to get the
job done, starting with…
-Type 1 SO – as these are most resistant to fatigue
-Then if more force is required we next recruit Type 2a FOG
fibres as they have high strength of contraction
-If maximum force is required we next recruit Type 2b FG
fibres as these contract with highest strength of contraction.
