1
Q
What HLA allele is MG?
A
B8
2
Q
What MHC is MG?
A
MHC Class I
3
Q
What is MG
A
Autoimmune disease mediated by blocking antibodies
4
Q
What happens to the autoantibodies when it is produced by the patient in MG?
A
Binds with acetylcholine receptors on motor receptors of muscles and blocks normal binding of acetylcholine and inducing complement mediate lysis of the cell
5
Q
What does MG cause?
A
- Progressive weakening of the skeletal muscles
- Severe impairment in eating and movement
6
Q
What is the treatment to MG?
A
Increasing acetylcholine levels (Cholinesterase inhibitors)
Decreasing antibody production (using corticosteroids)
Removing antibodies (via plasmapheresis - removal and exchange of blood plasma)
7
Q
What are the signs of MG?
A
- Drooping eyelids
- Inability to react corners of the mouth
