What are National Governing Bodies?
NGB’s can help ensure the development of elite performers in a number of ways. Initially, they can promote and increase participation in their sport providing equal opportunities for all. Elite training squads, Progressive levels of competition.
How do NGB’s provide equality of opportunity?
Positive role models, Accessible facilities, Meets government policies on sport & recreation, Policies in place to target under represented groups, employment of sport specific development officers, Resources invested in inner cities.
What are Whole Sport Plans?
Lottery funded, sport England approved outline of how an NGB intends to increase participation in the sport it is responsible for as well as identify and develop talent it in. Whole sport plans are essential in order to determine which areas of sports require funding and what is given to be effective, they allow for measurable results which can show if NGB’s are performing well.
