What is nephrotic syndrome
Is a syndrome caused by an increase in capillary permeability of the glomeruli to plasma proteins due to thickening leading to a massive proteinuria
What is a triad of ?

persistent proteinuria >3.5g/day
hypoalbuminemia <25g/l
oedema
severe hyperlipidaemia >10 mmol/l
What are the 3 primary causes of nephrotic syndrome ?
Minimal change nephropathy
membranous and proliferative nephropathy
focal segmental glomerulonephritis
What is another primary cause of nephrotic syndrome not mentioned ?
mesangiocapillary glomerulonephritis
