What is a town centre mixed development?
A
- areas with mixed land use e.g, residential and commercial and leisure
- developments planned by local councils to attract people back to the city centre
- example in Newcastle Trinity Square was built due to a limited range of facilities and includes supermarkets, offices and uni accommodation including 35 rental units

Cultural and heritage quarters?
A
- areas that focus on the history and culture of the area
- aim to attract visitors via museums and galleries etc.
- creates jobs for locals
- example is Southampton cultural quater with sea life museum that generates 300 direct jobs and 750,000 visitors

Fortress development?
A
- areas with high security with fences and cctv as well as guards in suburban areas of large cities
- designed to be a safe haven for families but are divisive as only rich can access them
- common in NEEs such as South Africa and can cause social segregation

Gentrified areas?
A
- wealthier people move into run down areas and regenerate them
- done by locals not by council
- can cause social segregation and push out locals
- improves housing and businesses
