What is BMR?
The energy expenditure during the resting state under restricted conditions.
What is RMR?
The resting energy expenditure taken under less restricted conditions.
What is the difference between BMR and RMR?
The main difference is how restricted the testing procedure is (BMR= restricted, RMR= unrestricted).
What are the Atwater calculations for carbohydrates?
1 gram= 4 kcals.
What are the Atwater calculations for proteins?
1 gram= 4 kcals.
What are the Atwater calculations for fats?
1 gram= 9 kcals.
What is energy balance
The relationship between energy consumed (via diet) and energy expended.
What does TEE mean?
Total energy expenditure.
What does TEE consist of?
Resting metabolic rate (RMR), activities of daily living (ADL) and physical activity levels (PAL).
