Physical and motor fitness components Flashcards
(12 cards)
What are the physical fitness components?
Strength, endurance, speed, flexibility and body composition.
What is strength?
The maximal force a muscle can generate at a specified velocity.
What is endurance?
Performance during whole-body, dynamic exercise that involves continuous effort lasting 75 seconds or longer.
What is speed?
The time it takes someone to get from A to B.
What is flexibility?
The ability to move muscles and joints through their full range of motion.
What is body composition?
The proportions of fat, muscle, bone and water in someone’s body.
What are the motor fitness components?
Power, balance, co-ordination, agility and reaction time.
What is power?
The ability to exert maximum force in the shortest amount of time.
What is balance?
The ability to maintain control of body position, whether static or dynamic.
What is co-ordination?
The ability to use different parts of the body together smoothly and efficiently to perform a movement or skill.
What is agility?
The ability to change direction quickly and efficiently while maintaining control and balance.
What is reaction time?
