Q

What is a very important clinical scenario mentioned that can cause new baby just born to not be able to pass meconium right away and what test would be done to diagnose it?

A

If mom is treated for pre eclampsia, then she is given magnesium, which means baby is given magnesium. This can cause the gut to slow down, so check a magnesium level in the presence of pre eclampsia when there are no obvious obstructive clinical signs.
