Bandura suggested that there are four main factors which contribute to an individuals self-efficacy.

  • previous performances
  • vicarious experience
    seeing another successful performance increases self-efficacy
  • verbal persuasion
  • physiological factors
    uncontrollable nerves due to increased arousal = lower confidence

increased awareness due to increased arousal = higher confidence
