A
- pt’s with systemic fungal infections
- pt’s receiving live virus vaccines
- watch in pt’s with DM it causes hyperglycemia

What can we teach pt’s about enhancing inhalation of glucocorticoids?
A
-use SABA 5 minutes before the glucocorticoid in order to get the steroid to the bronchial tree

What can we teach pt’s about minimizing adverse effects of inhaled glucocorticoids?
A
- rinse mouth post inhalation
- if pt is switching from oral to inhaled they need to supplement with oral at times of extreme stress
- to minimize bone loss pt needs to take calcium, D, and perform weight bearing exercise

What should pt’s not consume if they are taking Theophylline?
A
caffeine
-warn pt’s to never take a double dose of this medication if a dose is missed
