-use SABA 5 minutes before the glucocorticoid in order to get the steroid to the bronchial tree

What can we teach pt’s about minimizing adverse effects of inhaled glucocorticoids?

A
  • rinse mouth post inhalation
  • if pt is switching from oral to inhaled they need to supplement with oral at times of extreme stress
  • to minimize bone loss pt needs to take calcium, D, and perform weight bearing exercise
