Boundaries of the breast

From rib 2 to 6
From sternum to axillary line

Pectoral region

External to anterior thoracic wall
Superficial compartment contains skin, superficial fascia, and breasts
Deep compartment contains pec major and minor, and subclavius muscle

Retromammary space

Behind the mammary gland
Between superficial and deep fascia

Axillary process/tail

When the glandular tissue of the breast can move up and into the axilla

Breast is innervated by which nerves?

2nd to 6th intercostal nerves

Nipple is innervated by which nerve?

4th intercostal nerve

Blood supply to the breast

Axillary artery
Internal thoracic (anterior intercostal)

Lymphatic drainage of the breast

Axilla and parasternal lymph nodes
Also partially the abdominal ones

Cephalic vein

Between the deltoid and the pectoralis major (deltopectoral groove)

Subclavius

Rotates the clavicle when you bring your arm above your head

Main protractor of the scapula
Can elevate it too
