What caused the controversy in the Banana Wars?
European countries decided to help Banana plantations in their former colonies by not taxing their Bananas. So most bananas from large companies were still taxed
What were the other companies reaction about the preferred treatment that European governments put in place for Bananas?
They protested and went to the WTO
What did the WTO say about the Banana wars?
The WTO said that the European countries are not allowed to give preferred treatment
Who is Evo Morales and what did he do?
President of Bolivia. He promised indigenous people greater say in governing. He wants the wealth of natural resources to benefit Bolivians

The Canadian government allowed oil rigs and paper companies to operate on the Cree land. They didnt know that the Cree lived there becaue they were overlooked in treaty 8.

A Spanish priest that was troubled by the destruction of indigenous cultures in Mexico. He believed the indigenous people were the true owners of the country and tried to get the Spanish to change their policies

Educated as lawyer, the man that led India to independance through peaceful non-co-operation.
Who was Johannes Gutenberg?
The man that created the printing press which helped to spread information
Who was Aung San Suu Kyi?
A woman who worked to bring democracy to Myanmar. She was put under house arrest multiple times
What was the Soweto Protest?
A protest that happedned in SA where black students demanded better education. Police killed many students
