Phys - Capacitance Flashcards
(3 cards)
1
Q
Capacitance
A
When capacitance changes, p.d stays constant in a constant circuit, so charge must change to maintain the relationship CV = Q.
Charge flows from the cell to the capacitor or vice versa.
2
Q
Capacitor Charging
A
When a circuit is made, charge begins to accumulate on one of the plates and pulled from the other, causing an increasing p.d across the plates. (specify +ive and -ive)
As more charge accumulates, current decreases due to the increasing resistance in the capacitor, impeding flow rate of charge.
3
Q
Capacitor
A
Parallel plates with dieletric (air, vacuum) between them. An appropriate dielectric will increase the capacitance
