POCT: IMMUNOCHROMATOGRAPHIC TEST FOR HBsAg Flashcards
(10 cards)
It is a complex DNA virus belonging to the family Hepadnaviridae, with its members collectively known as hepadnaviruses.
hepatitis B virus (HBV)
called “serum hepatitis,”
Hepatitis B
Hepatitis B viral proteins of significance include
● Envelope protein - Hepatitis B surface antigen (HBsAg)
● Structural nucleocapsid core protein - Hepatitis B core antigen (HBcAg)
● Soluble nucleocapsid protein - Hepatitis B e antigen (HBeAg)
HBV spreads through
infected body fluids such as
- blood,
- saliva,
- semen,
- vaginal secretions,
- tears,
- breast milk,
- sweat,
- urine.
HBV mode of transmission
● Sharing of contaminated needles or syringes
● Blood transfusion
● Sexual intercourse with an HBV-infected person
● Transmission from an HBV-infected mother to her newborn baby
DENGUE
For detection of IgG/IgM
- Dispense 5uL of specimen to sample well (S well)
- Add 3 drops of buffer (B well)
- Set timer
For detection of dengue antigen
- Dispense 2 drops serum sample
- Add 1 drop buffer (sample diluent) to S well
- Set timer
- Read at 20-25 mins
SYPHILIS
Add 2-3 drops (80 uL) on sample area
Read at 15 mins
ASO
Add 1 drop of sample to the first well
Add 1 drop of positive and negative controls on middle and last well, respectively
Add 1 drop of ASO latex to each well
Mix using paddle end of pipette
Gently tilt and rotate slide by hand for 2 mins
Observe any agglutination
INFLUENZA
Perform throat swab on patient’s pharynx and tonsillar area
Insert absorbent tip of swab to extraction buffer, swirl the swab 5 times
Put the nozzle on extraction tube
Add 3 drops of specimen to the sample well of the cassette
Read at 15 minutes
