Proff Check 2021 Flashcards

(46 cards)

1
Q

Why do we raise the dead

A

To reduce overall drag,
Using Only Rudder - if the airframe is aligned with the airstream will not track straight, un-compensated side force on the rudder, offsetting small amount of lift, no greater than 10 deg and having ball 1/2 out will reduce exposed keelsurface and is the most efficient

2
Q

Asy Blade Effect

A

The down going blade developes more thrust than up going blade, especially when the axis of rotation is slightly inclined after having lost an engine. With clockwise props means right engine thrustline has greater arm - more yawing moment thus the left is critical

Q

Flight Reviews are

A

Attached to rating not license
Have competency and assessment std (PPL License diff to CPL)
Can be conducted outside Pt141/2 but only if no training involved
Records must be kept for 7 years
MEA covers SEA

24
Q

What Flight Reviews exist

A

Aircraft Rating (AFR)(2yrs)
Private IFR
Night VFR
Low Level

25
What covers an AFR
Flight test for rating Flight test for Operational rating OPC, Operator Proficiency Check Proficiency Check, Instrument / Instructor / examiner + Design feature training, same class
26
AFR Nav requirement
NO
27
AFR Records must be kept
7 Years
28
What would you ask/brief prior to sending a Student Solo
-Are you happy to go solo today -Be clear about your expectations, ie I want you to do 1 / 3 or 1hr of ccts – Just T/A and back etc -Change in performance, When I get out the A/C will be lighter and perform better make sure they know that it will be different -After the solo taxi to – keep it simple -Positive – I know you can do it or I wouldn't send you, no one ever crashers their first solo etc
29
Competency Based Training records BFR? Check with Tim
Doesn't need to be signed off by instructor, is at PIC discretion, instructor can only advise Note made in logbook covered 61.385
30
Performance Standard 1
UNSATISFACTORY - Auto rollover of line item Exercise completed but at the expense of using handling errors & /Or unsafe airmanship. Hazardous aeroplane handling requiring corrective intervention. Non Tech skills resulting in unsafe flight situations
31
Performance Standard 2
POOR - No auto rollover must be manually done by line item function Safely Achieved performance includes more than one major deviation from the expected level and indicates marginally acceptable performance. Recognition of errors is not timely / corrections not approapriate. Non Tech Skills below minimum std of competency
32
Performance Standard 3
LOW - Safely achieved Frequent minor or one major deviation from the expected level. Safety not compromised NTS meet the minimum std of competency
33
Flight Review - Time
24 Months
34
Flight Review - Instructor requirements
14 Days to endorse licence and notify CASA 61.1220 for details req'd in endorsement
35
Req's CPL - Integrated
150 Hours Total - 140 in a plane 70 Hours PIC 20 Hours Xcountry 10 Hours Instrument - 5 Dual in the A/C * 300nm Nav, 2 away landings
36
Req's CPL Non Intergrated (141)
200 Hours Total - 190 in a plane 100 Hours PIC (60 Hrs PIC if CPL Heli / 80 Hrs if Heli PPL) 20 Hours Xcountry 10 Hours Instrument - 5 Dual in the A/C * 300nm Nav, 2 away landings
37
Techniques for direct supervision of junior instructors
o Think Nick o Only flying when on site, talk before flight to make sure they have a plan Limit the lessons they can teach - pre CCTs o Listen to the briefing o Post flight brief with Me before student  Then debrief student  Go over de brief notes o o Watch his time management
38
Techniques for IN-direct supervision of junior instructors
 Expand lesson that he can do • Get him to do a briefing • Fly a session of CCTs with him o Do all variants of CCTs • Sit in on his debriefs • Touch base for the day
39
What flight training can be done outside of 141 / 142
Design Feature or flight activity training
40
Performance Standard 4
STANDARD Safely achieved with only minor variation from expected level. Errors minor, recognised and maganed safely NTS are effective
41
Performance Standard 5
HIGH Safely achieved with smooth * accurate aircraft handling Technical and NTS are higher than expected level of competency
42
Automatic repeat triggers
Total 5 line items graded as 1 or 2 must be marked as Unsatisfactory and be repeated
43
Summative Assessment
Assessment conducted by Instructor or Examiner to evaluate the acquistionof competency at the end of the unit, Lesson, Stage or course | Competent OR Not Yet Competent
44
Formative Assessment
Conducted by Instructor to monitor student progresssion towards competency. 1/Help students identify weakness and target areas that req work 2/Help management recognise where students are struggling and address problems early | Grades 1- through 5
45
