PROGNOSIS Flashcards
(4 cards)
Prognosis refers to the likely outcome or course of a disease or medical condition. It is a prediction of how a patient’s health will progress over time, including the chances of recovery, potential for complications, and expected duration or survival.
For example:
A good prognosis means the condition is likely to improve or be cured.
A poor prognosis means the condition may worsen or not respond well to treatment.
It’s based on factors like the nature of the disease, patient’s overall health, and response to treatment.
