Q

يَوْمَئِذٍ

A

يَوْمَئِذٍ means “on that day” or “that very day”.

يَوْمَ (yawma) — “day” (with fatḥa ending)
- fatḥa (accusative) ending, because of the compound structure

ئِذٍ (ʾidhin) — “then” or “at that time” (with kasra and tanwīn)
- kasra + tanwīn (genitive case)

The glottal stop (hamza ء) connects the two parts smoothly.
USAGE:
Common in Quranic and classical Arabic to indicate a specific, important day (often the Day of Judgment).

EXAMPLE:

وَيَوْمَئِذٍ لا يُسْأَلُ عَن ذَنْبِهِ إِنْسٌ وَلَا جَانٌّ
(And on that day, no soul will be asked about its sin, neither human nor jinn.) — Quran 55:39
