Dreamt that an elephant danced before her and entered her side from the right. She went to a holy man, who explained its meaning - she would have a son who would be a great holy man and would achieve perfect wisdom.
What is Samsara?
the cycle of death and rebirth to which life in the material world is bound.
What is true freedom taught by the Buddha?
overcoming craving and attachment, breaking the cycle of suffering and death
What is the story of the sacrifice of goats for 500 lifetimes?
the sacred text about the priest sacrificing the goat represents the cycle of samsara as the goat was once a priest who killed animals. The priest caused hard to the goat, so when the priest died, he would come back as a goat.
What does Samsara teach?
In essence, samsara describes the ongoing process of life, death, and reincarnation driven by karma, which perpetuates a cycle often seen as filled with suffering, from which spiritual practices aim to provide release.
Do buddhists believe that we are trapped on a wheel of life?
Yes, they believe that we will be reborn many times in order to give us the opportunity to reach nirvana.
What do buddhists believe about rebirths?
That a particular rebirth might be for a reason, for example to teach us a particular quality – a very impatient person may well be reborn as a tree as a way to teach them to be patient.
