Flexures

A
  1. It follows sacrococcygeal concavity forming sacral flexure
  2. At its lower end, it bends backwards forming anal canal called perineal flexure
  3. It has lateral flexures: upper and lower are concave to left while middle is concave to right

1. Upper part of urinary bladder posterior wall (in male) forming rectovesical pouch (7.5 cm from anus)
2. Back of upper 1/3 of vagina posterior wall (in female) forming rectouterine (Douglas) pouch (5.5 cm from anus)
