A

GB, To try and handle poor workers by created housing for them but they have extremely bad conditions. The idea is that you can’t give them good support or they become lazy.

A

New emperor of France after 1830 revolution and overthrow of louis Phillipe in 1848. As a dictator promoted industrialization, rebuilt paris but kept power to him self (not to representative body). Failed in foreign policy because of Mexico and fought in Crimean war against Russia.

A

Started with Russia taking land from weakened Ottoman Empire then France and Britain declare war on Russia afraid they will gain to much land and power. Despite promise Austria (Russia had helped Austria earlier) doesn’t support Russia making Russia sign treaty of Paris in humiliation and not gaining any land. Concert of Europe is done.

A

1854 Crimean war, Britain against Russia, GB lost a lot of life due to big mistake in light brigade. GB control Balaclava.

A

In piedmont Italy with the help of the king Emmanuel II start of Italian Unification. Worked to support Army and make sure France helped them against Austria. However France didn’t and they only gained one territory.

A

1864, Bismarck gains 2 German duchies with the help of Austria giving one to them. Creates friction between Austria and Prussia but also starts to isolate them (no help from Denmark)

A

Lead by Bismarck but first made sure France and Russia are neutral and alliance with Italy after promise of land. Took Austria out of German affairs. Allowed Bismarck to make the taxes he wanted and showed how authoritarian and nationalism can work together.

Franco-Prussian war

A

1870-71, possible king of Spain related to Prussian King so France doesn’t want that. Attacks but Napoleon III is captured and exiled. France gives up land and South Germany joins German confederation (contains Prussia as well) making them a new strong power.

Started with Charles Darwin and theory of evolution and natural selection. Ideas of survival of the fittest and how humans aren’t different in since of origins compared to other animals. Gets rid of unique design
