It should only be used to assist the dog in adjusting its position rather than to correct the dog
When trying to find the correct stimulus level for a remote trainer, what does the trainer need to watch for?
A noticeable change in the dog’s behavior, neck, or ears
Why must caution be taken to not turn the level up so much at one time when using a remote trainer?
In order to not exceed a dog’s titration level
What are some indications that a dog is a “good possibility” to use a remote trainer?
Dog usually follows commands with little interaction with the user
The dog performs commands most of the time while on a leash, but when the leash comes off, the dog does not follow commands
Dog performs behaviors only when people are not around, such as digging or chewing
Teaching boundaries
Provide command meaning to a third-party that the dog does not know, does not respect, or with a handler that cannot physically provide the appropriate level of control of the dog
Other forms of positive control are not an option for medical reasons
What are some indications for a trainer to “refrain from use“ for a remote trainer?
The dog is very sensitive to corrections
The dog has had neck trauma or has a injury to the neck
The dog reacts aggressively toward the stimulus
Titration level is exceeded at the lowest level of stimulus
Dog stimulus level must be abnormally raised
Other methods can be used to accomplish the same results
