Research Design Flashcards
(7 cards)
Primary & secondary data
Primary data: Data collected firsthand by the researcher. It is original and specific to the research purpose.
Secondary data: Data that has already been collected by someone else for a different purpose, such as reports, books, or online databases. It is readily available and often used to supplement primary research.
Quantitative & Qualitative data
Quantitative- quantity
Qualitative- quality
Random Sampling
each sample has an equal probability of being chosen
Stratified Sampling
researchers divide subjects into subgroups called strata based on characteristics that they share
Snowball sampling
recruitment technique in which research participants are asked to assist researchers in identifying other potential subjects
Systematic sampling
sample members from a larger population are selected according to a random starting point but with a fixed, periodic interval
Quota sampling
non-probability sampling method that relies on the non-random selection of a predetermined number or proportion of units
