Q

Explain Custody

A

Custody is the restraint of free movement.

An apprehension or detention occurs when SF clearly notifies a suspect they are under apprehension (or what is known outside the DoD as arrest)/detention. This notice should be given orally or in writing, but it may be implied by the circumstances. Once in custody, the apprehending or detaining officer must control the movements of the offender. SF will protect the health and welfare of all apprehended suspects.
