What was the plan
A
Murder Elizabeth and launch a Spanish invasion, to put MQS on the throne and marry her to the Duke of Norfolk

How did it turn out
A
Sir William Cecil uncovered the plot and had evidence to prove Norfolk was guilty.
Parliament met in 1572, and Norfolk was executed in June, MQS was left alive

What was the Significance
A
- Reinforced the threat posed by Mary, both internal and external dangers, she couldn’t trust anyone
- Elizabeth concentrated on improving relations with France
- Catholic priests were smuggled into england
- Parliament passed a law - concerting people to Catholicism was treason and recusants would be fined £20
