they can get a detailed perspective on an issue from someone who has a knowledgable perspective on it - perhaps someone who has lived through a certain relevent experience

what are the weaknesses of using interviews as a source of information
A
it is only one person’s perspective - and it therefore will not give clear detail on the lived experiences of a full range of people, so it might oversimplify or stereotype the issue
