Sampling Techniques
Opportunity, Random, Snowball, Volunteer/Self-Selecting
Opportunity Sampling
Easiest method - making use of people readily available to the researcher who match the target population
Random Sampling
Researcher needs the names of all the people in the target population, so each member has an equal chance of being selected. All potential participants are entered into a computer programme which will randomly select participants - until desired number has been chosen
Volunteer Sampling
Researcher uses participants that have responded to an ad posted by the researcher
